Attending Dan Savage’s awesome HUMP! Film Festival is easy enough, but now you can take a stand against corporate fascism just by getting the word out. Then get yourself to a theater near you for the 15th annual Festival, which is on tour beginning January 30 and running through October of 2020 in dozens of cities across the United States and Canada.* (I advise you check the calendar now.) Savage is, among other things, a sex advice columnist and gay activist (the It Gets Better Project he founded helps to prevent suicide among LGBT youth).

For those who don’t know, HUMP! features a showcase of twenty sex-positive, five-minute films, all curated by Savage. These dirty movies are made by ordinary folk who want to be porn stars just for this festival. You’ll get a rip-roaring range of body sizes, shapes, ages, ethnicities, sexualities, genders, kinks, and fetishes. Just like the 1970s, it’s about celebrating the freedom of creative sexual expression. Some may turn you on while others can be hysterical or even make you think. Or you could be like my mom watching Jaws — though her fingers!

But it seems that Facebook (and Facebook-owned company, Instagram) deactivated HUMP!’s business page for “explicit content,” significantly challenging the festival’s ability to promote this awesome event. Well, even though fake news is fine if they get paid, Facebook also did the same thing to Stage and Cinema, removing reviews from our Facebook page because they didn’t approve of the content (they ain’t alone — Google did the same thing, removing ads from pages of reviews with production photos of which they disapproved; below are two examples of just such filth:

“With our government and major corporations like Facebook waging war on so many of our sexual freedoms, just being at HUMP! is a modest act of resistance,” Savage explains. (But I wouldn’t expect too much modesty on screen.) So, Dan and his peeps asked if we would help spread … the word. Post, tweet, mount, roar, squish … whatever it takes. (I suppose you can do all that in the theater, too, but be discreet, wouldja?)

Here’s the line-up. I’ll be HUMP!ing at the Downtown Independent in Los Angeles, where HUMP! runs February 20th through February 29th, 2020.

15th Annual HUMP! Film Festival Films!

And Wildfire won Best Sex but it isn’t listed as a winner! It was sexy.

Does anyone know the name of the producers of Orally Fixated? I would be interested in supporting the artists. The video gave me major Janelle Monae Pynk vibes and it was AMAZING!
