SHEN YUN RETURNS TO SO CAL
Inspired by the spirit of an ancient culture, Shen Yun Performing Arts brings to life classical Chinese dance and music in a gloriously colorful show. With an elite company of dancers, singers, and musicians, the New York-based Shen Yun returns to Southern California in January and February 2015.

The company’s masterful choreography and graceful routines range from grand classical processions to ethnic and folk dances, with 60 gorgeously costumed dancers moving in stunning synchronized patterns. Over the years, martial arts techniques honed on the battlefield mesh into Chinese classical dance in jumps, spins and tumbling techniques. These highly physical moves combined with the delicate expressionism of circular movement make classical Chinese dance one of the world’s most precise and expressive art forms. The large-scale dance numbers and intricate solos are choreographed by Michelle Ren and Yungchia Chen.
State-of-the-art 30-foot tall video backdrops conjure celestial palaces and pastoral vistas, while the original music combines 5,000 year old Chinese instruments with a 40-piece Western orchestra. The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Milen Nachev and William Kuo, will play the compositions of Jing Xian and Junyi Tan.
Shen Yun, which takes inspiration from ancient heroic legends and modern courageous tales, will appear in Hollywood, Northridge, Costa Mesa, Thousand Oaks, and Long Beach.
