IN CONCERT AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL

LA Phil’s Gustavo Dudamel is set to host a new six-episode series highlighting unforgettable performances from the past 10 years at the Hollywood Bowl. Tune in for the debut episode of In Concert at the Hollywood Bowl  this week with “Hecho en México” (“Made in Mexico”), which pays tribute to Los Angeles’ Mexican roots with beloved Mexican and Mexican-American artists performing alongside Gustavo Dudamel  and the  LA Phil.  Don’t miss  Rodrigo y Gabriela,  Natalia Lafourcade,  La Santa Cecilia,  and  Los Ángeles Azules  with  Paolo Bortolameolli  and members of  YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles).

The series begins on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 (at 9 pm PST) on KCET and Friday August 21, 2020 at 8 pm PST on PBS SoCal (beginning early 2021, it will be on PBS stations nationwide.)

The series includes archival performances by Gustavo Dudamel  and the  Los Angeles Philharmonic,  Rodrigo y Gabriela,  Misty Copeland,  Herbie Hancock,  Wayne Shorter,  Carlos Santana,  Cindy Blackman Santana,  Kamasi Washington,  Kristin Chenoweth,  Audra McDonald,  Sutton Foster,  Brian Stokes Mitchell,  Natalia Lafourcade,  John Williams,  Café Tacvba, and more.

In addition to unforgettable concert performances, the program produced in partnership with KCET also offers artist conversations and insights into the Hollywood Bowl’s unique history as a venue created to democratize the concert experience and that has, since its founding, welcomed artists from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Featuring Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil performing excerpts from  Swan Lake  with  Misty Copeland,  Pablo Ferrández, Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil performing a selection from Dvorak’s  Cello Concerto, Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil performing Copland’s  Fanfare for the Common Man, as well as Gustavo Dudamel, the LA Phil, Amanda Majeski, J’Nai Bridges, Issachah Savage, Ryan Speedo Green and the  Los Angeles Master Chorale  (LAMC) performing the finale to Beethoven’s  Symphony No. 9.
