L.A.-based artist Ditto Kiddo (former Saturday Night Live and MADtv cast member Jeff Richards) has released his latest full-length album People You Know featuring original tracks previously used in the innovative deepfake podcast, The Jeff Richards Show. A music video for the title track has been released on YouTube and Instagram as well.
People You Know arrives several months after the launch of The Jeff Richards Show, where many of the songs have been used at the end of most episodes. Inspired by electropop and the unforgettable group, Pet Shop Boys, People You Know originated and was recorded during the pandemic. Daniel White and Arlo Sanders handled the production, while Ditto Kiddo wrote the lyrics and sings on all the fun, silly tracks.
Previously, Ditto Kiddo released a self-titled album. Over the years, he has also overseen a monthly “farewell concert” series at the Improv on Melrose, the Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store. Several prominent comedians have performed during one of the Ditto Kiddo: Farewell Concert shows including Ali Wong, Andy Dick, Harland Williams, Kevin Farley, Adam Ray and Michael Kosta.
The premise of The Jeff Richards Show is for each episode, Richards is always mysteriously absent for his own show and replaced at the last minute by a celebrity replacement “guest host”, played by Richards. Deep Fake clips showcasing that week’s guest alongside Jeff’s impression are released on YouTube in conjunction with each episode. Guests have included Bill Burr, Russell Peters, Alec Baldwin, Cheri Oteri, Ellen Cleghorne and more.
