Kersten Stevens, queen of the violin, launches her much anticipated fifth album Queen Rising, which includes the single “Release The Grace,” an ode to Luther Vandross. Be the first to see Kersten perform original songs and newly recorded tracks along with Christian McBride at City Winery – The Loft on November 27, 2023 at 7:30pm. Along with “Release The Grace,” Queen Rising embodies four original songs written and co-produced with Christian McBride: “Queen Rising,” “Beginnings and Endings,” and “Crowned.” The pair also collaborated on three new arrangements: “Someday We’ll All Be Free,” “Fantasy,” and “Best Part.” It’s an essential and innovative contribution to the legacy of jazz violin.
Her latest release leads a growing breed of performers innovating jazz authenticity by collaborating with some of the industry’s most outstanding and respected musicians. Mixed by 10x Grammy Award-winning audio engineer Todd Whitelock, the album features revered musicians including the amazing drummer Eric Harland, renowned flutist Ragan Whiteside, and keyboard player, arranger, and musical director Miki Hayama.
