It’s a thrilling album that hooked me at the first listen. Breaking new ground yet again, pianist Joachim Horsley takes classical favorites as a base, and infuses them with infectious Afro-Caribbean beats, such as Rumba and Zouk. His newest album, out September 2, 2022, is Caribbean Nocturnes, and I had the luck to attend his Album Release Listening Party at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Beverly Hills last week.
Performances by Joachim and his band blew us away: Luca Alemanno (Bass; @lucalemanno), Yonathan “El Morocho” Gavidia (Percussion; @morochogavidia) and Murph Aucamp (Percussion; @murphcamp). Plus, the Caribbean food catered by Gostosas Catering was irresistible and paired nicely with the fine Boisset Collection wine. Caribbean Nocturnes will be available on all digital platforms.
