SO, YOU WANNA SEE STARS AT CHRISTMAS TIME…
OK, Christmas is coming, New Yorkers! With choral performances, cabarets, Broadway singers, and music concerts playing all over the city, it can be tough to choose the best. Well, how about a night with all four? On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 8pm, The Church of St. Paul the Apostle will present New York’s newest holiday tradition, Christmas Time in the City, a holiday concert celebrating the magic that lights up the city at Christmas. Using the backdrop of the beautiful, historic church, the evening features new, Broadway-style arrangements of beloved Christmas music performed by Broadway stars, a 25-piece orchestra, and a 70-voice, cross-borough community chorus. These stars will definitely light up your season!
And how about being part of the celebration? Christmas Time in the City is now seeking volunteer singers to complete the chorus for this truly spectacular event. Members of the chorus will have the opportunity to work first-hand with a full Broadway orchestra, sing alongside twelve Broadway stars, and make up a mighty vocal ensemble to bring this music to life. These singers will be a part of the inaugural concert that St. Paul’s has the long-term goal of broadcasting nationwide. Apply now!
“The opportunity to bring the Broadway community together with New York’s finest musicians and singers from across the five boroughs is beyond thrilling,” says Chancey. “St. Paul’s has a long history of great music. It is an inclusive space that bridges faith, culture, the arts, and its community. This concert honors the traditions of our beloved New York City combined with the sacred, heartwarming nostalgia that comes with Christmastime.”
