Casting director and creative professional Chad Eric Murnane has launched Murnane Casting. Based in New York City, this boutique casting office works on theatre, film, and television projects nationwide. The company specializes in Broadway productions, regional theatre, and developing new works with up-and-coming creators.
Murnane has over a decade of experience in casting, having enjoyed five years as a casting director at Binder Casting and three years as a casting associate to Lisa Fields in Los Angeles. He has also worked with casting directors April Webster, Barbara Fiorentino, and Marc Hirschfeld.
Career highlights include Into the Woods (Hollywood Bowl), Emojiland (off-Broadway at The Duke), Anne of Green Gables (Goodspeed), Did You See What Walter Paisley Did Today? (La Mirada), along with national/international tours of Lincoln Center Theater’s My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Tootsie, and the Tony Award-winning revival of The Color Purple. On television, Chad worked on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and the reboot of Friday the 13th (Paramount).
“I love what I do! I thrive on collaboration and helping artists and creatives find their voices through casting,” Chad emphasizes. “I learned how to run a room by observing many great casting professionals, like Lisa Fields, and I’ve modeled my career on their work habits. Now, I bring the same tenacity and passion to every project.”
Murnane has earned the praise of industry colleagues like Bartlett Sher, Tony Award-winning theatre director and Resident Director of Lincoln Center Theater. Sher states, “Chad Murnane is a perceptive, sensitive, caring and extraordinary casting director with a graceful and strong approach to this challenging and amazing work.”
Chris Coleman, Artistic Director at Denver Center for the Performing Arts, acknowledges Murnane’s dedication to his craft: “Chad comes to the casting process with a high level of energy and imagination. I find his insights valuable and appreciate that he isn’t afraid to go above and beyond to find the right person for the role.”
Tony Award-winning playwright Robert Horn shares that Murnane “is not only able to find fresh, undiscovered talent that is constantly surprising, but his ability to organize and run a casting session is beyond impressive. His humor, his organizational skills, his taste, his professionalism mixed with his keen eye and understanding of material is impressive.”
Through Murnane Casting, Murnane will continue working with current clients. He reaffirms, “Clients can expect the same care they’ve always received from me — and we’ve got some exciting projects underway! I’m looking forward to both building on existing relationships and forging new ones. The casting process is hard work, but it should also be fun.”
