WHAT? THE DICKENS!
Nothing can keep a good Carol down. Beginning November 28, 2023, Summoners Ensemble Theatre’s A Christmas Carol at the Merchant’s house will indeed return for its 11th season. But like a ghost that visits magically in the night, these ghosts will attend you in person. In what year more than 2023 do we all want to be transported back some 155 years ago (1867 to be exact) when Charles Dickens himself arrives in New York City for a month of sold-out performances of his beloved holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. Performances run through December 24.
Gather whoever you can without physical endangerment, and all with spiritual engagement, and join Mr. Dickens, in the person of John Kevin Jones, as he tells this timeless Christmas tale — created from Dickens’ own touring script — in the richly appointed and intact Greek Revival double parlor of the 1832 landmark Merchant’s House, dressed for the joyous season with a table-top tree, boughs of holly, and flickering candles.
All are invited to the ghoulish, festive, heartwarming proceedings. In the spirit of Mr. Dickens’ message of compassion, generosity, and goodwill, performances are accessible to “Every One!” (not recommended for children under 12, however). This Christmas-Yet-To-Come you won’t have to ghost your friends and family because you didn’t get tickets before they were sold out.
“A Holiday Reception with Mr. Dickens” returns December 8-24. Attend a special performance by Mr. Dickens of A Visit from St. Nicholas”as we toast the 200th anniversary of the poem’s original publication with a cup of “Smoking Bishop” (mulled wine) or chilled cider! The 19th century family room, kitchen, and garden (weather permitting) of the Merchant’s House Museum will be open to guests during the reception. If offered on your selected performance, look for the “Reception & Performance” ticketing option. Strictly limited to 20 guests. “A Holiday Reception with Mr. Dickens,” $25, begins 60 minutes prior to the scheduled performance time. (Exception: Saturday 6:00PM performance, reception begins immediately following performance.)

I bought tickets for 12/26, tested positive for Covid on 12/24
Was too tired to do anything about it on Sunday.
Am I eligible for a refund?
I can provide proof of tickets and diagnosis
Contact the theater directly, John.
