Palm Springs Plaza Theatre celebrates its grand
reopening with a free community open house

After a two-year, multimillion-dollar restoration, the historic Palm Springs Plaza Theatre will reopen its doors with a free community open house and block party on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can explore the newly restored landmark through docent-led tours that highlight preserved 1936 architectural details and the state-of-the-art technology seamlessly integrated into the ninety-year-old venue.

Outside, South Palm Canyon Drive will be closed for a festive street fair with booths, live music, and performances from local arts organizations, including Modern Men: Coachella Valley Men’s Chorus at 10 AM, Coachella Valley Voices at 11 AM, Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus at 12 PM, and Musical Theatre University at 1 PM. New Plaza Theatre merchandise, a commemorative book (Desert Dream to Silver Screen), and the fundraising concert recording Rock the Plaza will also be available.

The Plaza’s restoration—spearheaded by the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre Foundation, the City of Palm Springs, and Architectural Resources Group—returns the beloved venue to its original Art Deco grandeur while preparing it for a new era. The theatre officially relaunches with Cynthia Erivo headlining the Opening Night Gala on December 1, kicking off what’s expected to be a thriving cultural season for Palm Springs.
