Ongoing Conversations: The Summer Global Jazz Intensive Online at UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music is a weeklong online summer intensive program designed for high school students ages 14-18. Using online platforms as an extended global classroom, the program brings performers together from across the world to create the nation’s first global jazz studies summer program.
Students will:
- Learn from composers and arrangers who are recent graduates of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA and UCLA Global Jazz Studies faculty.
- Participate in masterclasses, composition workshops, and performances designed around the participants’ musical interests and instrumentation.
- Study approaches to composition and improvisation for soloists, small groups, and large ensemble.
