JAY CHOU’S GAMBLING HABITS

Jay Chou is a popular Taiwanese known for several Mandopop hits. Born in 1979 in Taiwan, he is arguably the most celebrated musician in the country and on the mainland of China.

The media describes Chou as a music genius. Chou released his first album in November 2000. He immediately won the hearts of music enthusiasts with his avant-garde music style.

His first two albums comprised a range of genres, including rap, rock, and traditional Chinese music. His songs touch on various themes, including violence, Chinese kung fu, and urbanization. Another remarkable attribute of Chou is that he produces his music and directs his albums.

He also directs his music videos. Famous for his songwriting prowess, Chou writes the lyrics for most of the songs on his albums. He has even written songs for some Chinese musicians.

Jay Chou is also an accomplished actor. He was in some films, including The Green Hornet, Initial D, and Curse of the Golden Flower.

Jay Chou’s Gambling Habits

As a musician, actor, and singer-songwriter Jay Chou’s net worth is about $75 million. He doesn’t shy away from spending big, which has landed him into some controversial situations. In 2010, people claimed he gambled away $2 million in two days at a casino in Singapore.

According to news outlets, the Mandopop singer and actor visited the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) casino in the morning after performing at two major concerts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Housed inside one of the most iconic structures in the world, MBS casino encompasses about 15,000 square meters of gaming space.

The casino boasts more than 1,500 slots, 600 table games, and a selection of online casino services like at gclub. MBS is the world’s most expensive casino, representing a $5.7 billion investment by Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

At the casino, Chou played only baccarat, placing generous bets of between $100,000 and $200,000 each time. However, he did not lose all of his bets. At one point, the Taiwanese pop star won $20,000. Following the win, he gave the casino staff a tip of about $6,000.

However, the pop star’s own company, based in Taiwan, rubbished the claim that he lost such a huge sum. According to the company’s spokesman, the concert organizers invited Chou to visit the casino. However, the amount wagered was much smaller than the $2 million that news outlets were stating.

Final Thoughts

Like any other human being, celebrities encounter a lot of stress every day. The fame and the public expectations they have to deal with usually worsen the situation. Some of them turn to gambling as a way of easing the stress.

While others end up winning big and adding to their fortunes, others end up losing their fortunes. Jay Chou doesn’t have a history of gambling. The fact that he lost a significant amount of money on this occasion may not mean that he is a poor gambler. It is not clear whether he is actually into gambling.
