KEEPING US TOGETHER WHILE WE’RE APART

For some, sitting at home can during our long shut-in can be crazy-making, but not because there isn’t enough to stream. It’s just that so much of it is blather. Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel believes a major ingredient missing during these trying times is “inspiration.” So beginning tomorrow, March 31, 2020 at 6pm, the La Phil — teaming up with Classical KUSC and Classical KDFC — will begin At Home with Gustavo, a series of weekly programs featuring musical selections curated by Dudamel along with his personal reflections on the music. With interviews conducted by KUSC’s Brian Lauritzen, each week includes five different, hour-long programs — four in English and one in Spanish. Created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be an awesome way to get into the head of one of the world’s top conductors.

The video below explains Dudamel’s desire to continue sharing music with audiences when it’s needed most:

At Home with Gustavo can be heard Tuesday through Friday, 6pm-7pm on KUSC and KDFC, with an additional Spanish-language broadcast on KUSC Sundays, 7pm-8pm and on KDFC Sundays, 6pm-7pm. Listen to KUSC over the air on 91.5 FM and beyond, streaming live on KUSC.org, on the free iOS and Android apps, and via smart speaker. The same applies to KDFC.com, which also can be heard all across the Bay Area. The series will also be syndicated nationally by PRX.org.
