MARSH’S ONLINE SOLO FEST LOOKS FOR PERFORMERS

From Ann Randolph’s Loveland in 2010 to Dan Hoyle’s Border People last year, The Marsh has presented some of the greatest solo shows I have ever seen — with some of the freshest perspectives on stage. San Francisco Bay Area’s “breeding ground for new performance,” which operated theaters in San Francisco and Berkeley that offered some 600 performances per year on four stages pivoted in April post-COVID to create its digital platform offering nightly performances. Since the launch of MarshStream, viewers from Mexico to New Zealand, United Kingdom to Argentina, and Israel to Australia have tuned in, with hundreds logging on each night.

Now, The Marsh will bring us the first-ever MarshStream International Solo Fest, an online fete presenting solo work via its digital theater platform. Interested participants may submit their solo shows (60 minutes and under) for consideration by August 16, 2020, and will be notified between September 7–14, 2020 regarding their acceptance. Soloists from anywhere in the world can take part in this global performance festival, but know that if performances are not in English, applicants must provide English subtitles.

With the MarshStream International Solo Fest, The Marsh will expand its offerings to showcase the best of international solo performance. MarshStream International Solo Fest will take place October 7–11, 2020. For more information and to apply, visit Marsh.
