I thoroughly enjoyed this hilarious and heartfelt book. Gay or straight, Steve Milliken’s self-deprecating humorous essays (38 in all!) have universal appeal as he manages to find laughs while naïvely weaving the complications of life both teaching in the urban ghetto and contending with his pratfalls in the gay ghetto. Acting as a class clown, Steve’s creative teaching methods helped his students get a better education and must have left a lasting impact. Which means this book is for everyone: gay, straight, young, old. There are many coming out stories, but Milliken does so quite comically. I especially liked “My Rocky Horror Virginity Show,” “Bitch Ass Snitch,” and “Changing Closets” to name just a few. Here’s the back cover:
