Renée Fleming’s feature-length films, Renée Fleming’s Cities That Sing: Paris and Renée Fleming’s Cities That Sing: Venice. The films take viewers on an immersive and richly cinematic journey as Fleming explores each city through the lens of opera and classical music. Each film will be screened for one day only, in select IMAX and Fathom movie theaters throughout the U.S on August 26, 2023 (Paris) and September 16, 2023 (Venice).

In Theatres: August 26, 2023

In Cities That Sing: Paris, Fleming is joined by acclaimed tenor Piotr Beczala, soprano Axelle Fanyo, baritone Alexandre Duhamel, and the Orchestre Victor Hugo Franche-Comte for chamber pieces and arias conducted by Jean-François Verdier on the renowned Théâtre du Châtelet stage. Beyond the stage, Fleming reflects on the influence of Parisien culture on classical music in conversations with internationally acclaimed Couturier Alexis Mabille and praised Canadian Opera Director Robert Carsen. It’s an exquisite cinematic journey into the sights, sounds, and history of the City of Lights.

In Theatres: September 16, 2023

In Cities That Sing: Venice, Fleming traverses the birthplace of opera and takes to the Teatro La Fenice stage with Francesco MeliMattia OlivieriPaola Gardina, and the Orchestra Del Teatro La Fenice conducted by Riccardo Frizza. Masterworks by some of Italy’s greatest composers will be performed in conjunction with exquisite cinematography and conversations with La Fenice’s Artistic Director, Fortunato Ortombina, and Conductor Riccardo Frizza.

Filmed for IMAX using IMAX-certified cameras the series features exclusive performances showcasing these great cities as never before seen through the eyes of one of the world’s greatest opera stars. Stroll along with Fleming and her contemporaries as they explore unique art, history, cuisine, and music.
