SILVER LINING FOUND

February 3, 2024 can’t come soon enough — that’s the date of Irish vocalist Stella Bass’s album release. A collection of handpicked standards and original compositions that reflect the challenging times the world collectively faced in 2020. The jazz album with a lovely trio supporting Bass, Look For The Silver Lining is the dose of positivity you have been looking for.

Pianist Johnny Taylor and his players do lovely work here. Taylor is London-born, but a long-time Dublin resident, and he and his trio are in high demand on the Irish scene. Joining Barry Donohue on Double Bass and Dominic Mullan on drums are leading Irish sax player Michael Buckley and on flugelhorn Ronan Dooney.

Along with eight American Songbook classics from the realm of Musical Theater, there are two delicious originals from Bass. whose emotive vocals lead the ensemble through fresh, confident, effortless sounds perfect for a bar, a cocktail party, or just as a soothing balm when your nerves get jangled. Sultry latin grooves, delicate ballads and vivacious swing numbers ornamented by playful arrangements and lyrical improvisations musically embody Bass’s sentiments of joy and optimism in the face of widespread hardship.

Stella launches her second album on Saturday 3rd February 2024, at 8pm in The Sugar Club in Dublin.
