People watching an outdoor movie at night with cozy lighting.

How about organizing a family movie marathon? The right movie will captivate children and keep adults entertained.

We researched the best movies for family viewing and selected only the very best. Most of them are cheerful, heartwarming films. But even if one of them moves you deeply, don’t worry: your loved ones are right there with you.

Paddington

Topping the list of family movies is a film about a bear named Paddington who simply adores marmalade. After his home in Peru is destroyed by an earthquake, the furry hero travels to London.

He dreams of starting a new life and becoming a true gentleman. At the train station, Paddington meets the Brown family, who take the stranger into their home.

With the help of his new friends, the bear hopes to find the explorer whom his aunt and uncle met many years ago in Peru. The difficulty is that Paddington does not even know the traveler’s name.

We Bought a Zoo

An excellent film for family viewing, based on real events. After losing his wife, Benjamin Mee is left alone with two children. To help his son and daughter recover from their grief, the head of the family decides to start a new life.

Benjamin buys a house with a real zoo in the backyard. With no experience, money, or time, he decides to restore the dilapidated animal park. With the support of his family and local residents, Benjamin sets out to learn the ins and outs of caring for zebras, porcupines, and lions.

Togo

Another good family movie to watch with children. The events unfold in 1913 in Alaska. Dog sled driver Leonard Seppala raises a small, weak puppy named Togo. The owner doubts that he will be able to become a good sled dog, but Leonard’s wife is confident in Togo’s kindness and strength.

Twelve years later, the musher is about to take part in the Great Race of Mercy. In bad weather and freezing temperatures, the dog sled team must travel a long distance to deliver diphtheria medicine to the city of Nome. Will Togo and Leonard be able to accomplish their task and save hundreds of children’s lives?

The Chronicles of Narnia

The film is based on Clive Lewis‘s fantasy novel of the same name, which consists of three parts. Fleeing the bombing of London, a mother is forced to send her four children to a remote village to stay with a family friend. There, while playing hide and seek, 8-year-old Lucy discovers an unusual wardrobe.

Entering it, she finds herself in a huge snow-covered forest, where she meets a friendly faun. Later, it turns out that this is not just a forest, but a whole country full of wonders, magic, and unusual inhabitants. As is typical for this genre, the story wouldn’t be complete without an evil witch. She becomes perhaps the biggest problem for the children.

Christopher Robin

A very interesting and heartwarming film that is definitely worth watching with the family. Thirty years have passed since Christopher Robin left his home and his faithful stuffed animal friends. During those years, he started a family, lived through World War II, and built a career at a suitcase manufacturing company.

When problems at work cause the hero to forget even his beloved wife and daughter, Winnie the Pooh and other childhood friends reappear in his life. They have all returned to help Christopher Robin find happiness again.
