Unpacking the Magic: LT Cousineau’s Songs from My Holiday Closet
is a Seasonal Smash that has become a holiday tradition

There’s a special magic that happens when a performer stops trying to please everyone and simply tells their own truth, which is what went down at Revolution Stage Company this past Monday, December 22, for the third year in a row with LT Cousineau’s original cabaret and holiday queerfest, Songs from My Holiday Closet.

LT Cousineau

Largely co-written with composer Cindy O’Connor, this was not your standard Christmas revue. It was a witty and surprisingly moving romp through the “closet” of holiday memories, delivered with the kind of polish you usually have to travel to New York to find.

LT Cousineau

LT is a master parodist. His take on “Merry Christmas Darling” and the cheeky “Gayer at Christmas” were crowd favorites. When LT slows things down for more tender moments like “Our First Christmas” the room shifts. It takes a seasoned pro to transition from the hilarity of “Skinny Santa” to moments of genuine connection, poignance, and even tears. The finale, “Seasons of Family,” was a reminder that through all the jokes and the sequins, the holidays are ultimately about the people we choose to stand on stage (or in life) with

Vinny Cousineau and LT Cousineau

While LT is the leader and inspiration behind this show, he brought along a powerhouse crew that shared the spotlight beautifully. The chemistry on stage felt like a true holiday party. Tod Macofsky was a standout throughout the night, bringing a fantastic blend of humor and vocal chops to songs like “Twisted Love for Christmas” and the melancholic “The Snow Comes Down.” Kim Schroeder Long and Macofsky kept the energy going with the “Holi-pep” series, providing a terrific recurring comedic punch. Long also wowed the crowd with her solo, “New Year’s Kiss.” Michelle Estrada nearly stole the show with “A Guy Who Loves Christmas” and a “Santa Baby” parody that was both sassy and classy.

Jenne Carey delivered a vocal masterclass in “Soprano at Christmas,” showing off a range that felt effortless before making a hilariously abrupt exit to which Cousineau commented in keeping with the theme her song, “Like a typical busy soprano during the holidays, Jenne is heading right off to another gig.” Truly Scrumptious lived up to the name, turning “The Holidays are a Drag” into a grand moment of theatrical camp. Vinny Cousineau also added a lovely layer of sincerity to the mix, particularly during the touching “Our First Christmas” duet with LT. At the center of it all was Kurt Jordan at the piano, who didn’t just play the notes—he drove the entire emotional arc of the show.

Cousineau has crafted something very special here—a show that after 3 years has become a holiday tradition in the Coachella Valley. If you missed this run at Revolution Stage Company, you missed one of the most vibrant celebrations in the desert this year.
