KNOCK, KNOCK. WHO’S THERE? TOC TOC.

Six strangers, one missing psychiatrist,
and a waiting room full of compulsions

Six patients walk into a psychiatrist’s waiting room. No, that’s not the setup for a joke—although in Laurent Baffie’s international hit comedy TOC TOC, it certainly becomes one. Repertorio Español brings the play to New York in Julián Quintanilla‘s Spanish-language adaptation, opening on night October 2, 2026 after one preview. Rafa Sánchez, Repertorio’s Executive Artistic Director, directs.

The six strangers have arrived to see a world-renowned psychiatrist, and each is living with obsessive-compulsive disorder. But when the doctor is unexpectedly delayed, his patients are left alone together in the waiting room, where their various compulsions inevitably collide. What follows is a fast-moving comedy in which the group must somehow contend with one another—and perhaps discover that the person sitting beside you can occasionally provide something the doctor can’t.

French comedian, actor and director Baffie’s TOC TOC has already enjoyed considerable success in Spain and Latin America, where its combination of provocative humor and empathy has made it an audience favorite. Now Repertorio gives New York audiences the chance to see Quintanilla’s Spanish adaptation, performed in Spanish with English captions. I have seen many wonderful shows here and the captions are easily accessible; if you don’t know a lick of Spanish, you’ll be fine.)

“Baffie’s writing is brilliant, irreverent, and profoundly empathetic,” says Sánchez, who sees something more than farce beneath all those competing compulsions. “Bringing TOC TOC to our stage highlights the extraordinary power of theater to bring people together and the healing power of shared laughter.”

The initial run continues through November 15, with additional performances planned throughout 2027. Casting will be announced soon.
