“GOOD TIMES NEVER SEEMED SO GOOD”

Producers Ken Davenport and Bob Gaudio (The Jersey Boys), have announced that A BEAUTIFUL NOISE: THE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL, a new Broadway-bound musical that will tell the incredible life story of legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, will have its world premiere at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre June 21 through July 31, 2022. This is a strictly limited six-week engagement. Then the musical previews beginning November 2, 2022, with an official opening night on Sunday December 4 at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre. The Broadway production of A Beautiful Noise coincides with the 50th anniversary of a series of concerts Diamond gave in October 1972 at Broadway’s venerated Winter Garden Theatre. The cast is led by Will Swenson as Neil Diamond – ThenMark Jacoby as Neil Diamond – NowRobyn Hurder as Marcia, and Linda Powell as Doctor. Swenson is one of theater’s most sought after leading men. He most recently starred in CSC’s acclaimed revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins, earned Tony Award, Drama Desk, and Drama League nominations for his portrayal of Berger in Diane Paulusproduction of Hair, and received an Obie Award for his devilish performance in Jerry Springer: The Opera. Including a score of Diamond’s most beloved songs, A Beautiful Noise features a book by four-time Academy Award®-nominee Anthony McCarten (Bohemian RhapsodyDarkest HourThe Theory of Everything), direction by Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer (Funny Girl, Hedwig and the Angry InchSpring Awakening), and choreography by Olivier Award® winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Steven Hoggett (Harry Potter and the Cursed ChildOnceBlack Watch).

With his first break into songwriting in the 1960s and his meteoric rise in the 1970s, and plenty of crushing disappointments and heart-stopping triumphs along the way, Neil Diamond has maintained an almost unthinkable level of superstardom for five straight decades. How did a poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn become one of the most universally adored showmen of all time? There’s only one way to tell it: a musical set to his era-defining smash hits that entranced the world.
