GHOULS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN
A San Francisco Halloween favorite is back for its 7th annual show. Bay Area Drag Legend and performer extraordinaire Peaches Christ (Joshua Grannell) is back with his talented and scary cast of ghouls, zombies, witches and goblins. This year’s show at the Old Mint on 5th and Mission Streets (known as the Terror Vault) is called HEXED.
Delilah Blackheart as Chef Gristlemarrow
It’s the story of three witches forming a coven that may or may not be responsible for missing children. Audience members are invited to try and stop the witches from spreading their curse and break up the coven. Because of the scary nature and “Adult” fun, this experience is Rated R and no one under 18 is allowed. This theatrical experience is immersive and participants interact with the performer. If one chooses the VIP experience, they wear a bright-red glow stick so the spirits and performers may touch and grab them in an attempt to draw you into their world.
Tracy Layden as Magda Crane & David Flower as the Man-in-the-Mirror
The Old Mint has been long rumored to be haunted. On the basement floors where most of the action takes place the musty smells in the old wall reek from the sulfur fog and possibly from some of the hundreds of rats that have infested the building for decades. The strobes and low lights meet many dark hallways with doors that randomly release ghosts and zombies. The basement is far and wide and it takes about an hour to get through all the rooms with various secret entrances. Once the journey is complete, if you make it that far, you’ll end up at the Fang Bang Bar where you can purchase exotic cocktails (& mocktails) and enjoy the erotic show at the Witch Strip Club.
Keith Rajala as Joe and Steven Todd as a Toxic Mutant
All of the spooky characters definitely give scary performances. This annual favorite Halloween treat is definitely worth it. It’s not cheap ($60 up to $125), but if that doesn’t scare you off, it’s more fun if you go with a group of friends. However, it’s money well spent for a very unique memorable adult evening. Given its popularity and cult-like status, reservations are strongly recommended and it sells out every year.
