Marks possesses the rare ability to make a stream-of-consciousness narrative feel purposeful, drawing us in with natural humor, incisive writing, and a beautifully expressive singing voice. If the evening has a flaw, it’s that the final quarter loses some of its shape once Marks picks up the guitar. While his musicianship is undeniable, the songs don’t deepen the emotional journey the way the spoken storytelling does.
