Joy, love, passion and some heartbreak overflowed at Revolution Stage Company this past Monday as Broadway veterans and best friends Craig Ramsay and Catherine Wreford kicked off a multi-city tour of their cabaret, Behind the Curtain: Untold Stories from Canada’s Team Broadway. This critically acclaimed song and dance show is a  heartfelt and entertaining show that combines personal anecdotes, humor, and classic Broadway tunes to provide an intimate look into their lives, decades long friendship, and careers. ca

Ramsay and Wreford, who gained national attention with their victory on The Amazing Race Canada, use this platform to share behind-the-scenes stories from their time on Broadway, including show experiences and stories about celebrities they “met.” Decades ago when they met at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet they made a pact that would get to Broadway and they would do it together with incredible love and support. Decades later their tremendous chemistry remains in tact and its a joy to behold their friendship shining through as they recount humorous, touching, sometimes risqué and even heartbreaking  tales from their lives and theatrical journeys.

The performance is stripped down to its essentials—just the two performers, a microphone, and their stories—creating a raw and authentic atmosphere. As Ramsay noted, “Playing characters is easy. Telling the truth about who we are? That’s the real performance.” Their vulnerability adds depth to the show, allowing audiences to connect with the performers on a personal level.

The musical direction by Robert Ollis complements the narrative, weaving in beloved Broadway numbers that resonate with the themes of resilience, friendship, and the love of performance. The Revolution Stage Company’s intimate setting enhances the experience, making it feel as though the audience is part of a private conversation between two close friends.

Behind the Curtain is more than a cabaret; it’s a celebration of life, friendship, and the enduring spirit of performers who have faced personal and professional challenges. It’s a must-see for theater enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates genuine storytelling delivered with passion and sincerity.
