A SEASON BEGINS IN THREES

Three young musicians open the Music Guild season
with Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, and Brahms

The Music Guild opens its 82nd season on Monday, Sept. 14, with the Kukiel–Lamcellari–Glicklich Piano Trio, bringing together three accomplished young musicians: Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist Vivian Kukiel, cellist Jayden Lamcellari, and pianist Samuel Glicklich. The program, titled Shadows and Light, moves from Rachmaninov’s Trio élégiaque No. 1 through Shostakovich’s powerful Piano Trio No. 2 to Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 2. A free pre-concert talk by musicologist Dr. Alison Maggart begins at 6:30, followed by the concert at 7:30 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Westwood.

Kukiel joined the LA Phil at 24 after winning a position in her first professional audition; Lamcellari has performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Center, and Vienna’s Musikverein; and Glicklich, a 2025 Maestro Piano Competition winner and Busoni Competition solo finalist, has collaborated with Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Gautier Capuçon. Together, they launch a Music Guild season that will present ten chamber-music concerts through May.
